Process Belt Coater Plant

Albany International Corp.

Albany International is a global textiles and materials processing company.  They required an extension to their Bury factory to house a new process belt coater machine. The height of the factory was insufficient for the machine and overhead crane and therefore part of the roof was removed and a new frame designed to house the new plant. Temporary hoardings were provided to segregate the site from the working factory.

The machine is located within a deep pit. The ground was poor and required piled foundations for both the structural frame and the machine base.  Water-excluding reinforced concrete walls were required for the pit enclosure.

Reid Jones Partnership was responsible for the design of the foundations, retaining walls, frame and ground floor slab. Site investigation services were tendered and arranged, including contamination testing and gas monitoring.
